Dr. Wendy Jarvie

Biography

Wendy Jarvie is an Adjunct Professor for the School of Business at UNSW Canberra. With a diverse career, she served as Deputy Secretary in Commonwealth Departments including Education, Science Training and Education, Employment Workplace Relations from 2001 to 2008, overseeing various areas such as indigenous education, international education, higher education, and science policy. She held the position of Director at Australia’s Office of Early Childhood Education and Child Care and has worked with the World Bank in Vietnam and the Pacific on early childhood education and technical vocational education. Jarvie's early career included roles as a research assistant and computer programmer. She completed her PhD in Geography at Flinders University and has degrees from the University of Newcastle in History and Engineering Science, alongside a Diploma in Computer Science. Notably, she has contributed to multiple government committees and has an extensive background in public service management and evaluation. Jarvie's current research interests focus on public policy administration in Australia, particularly innovations for sustainability, Indigenous development, and the creation of national early childhood policy.
