Biography

Dr. Wendy Raskind is a Professor Emeritus in the Division of Medical Genetics at the University of Washington. She completed her BA in Mathematics from Brown University in 1964, followed by her MD and PhD in Genetics from the University of Washington in 1977 and 1978, respectively. Her research focuses on neurodegenerative and neurobehavioral disorders, particularly the genetic basis of single-gene neurologic diseases. Dr. Raskind has developed cell and animal models to investigate the pathogenesis of these disorders and has a strong interest in identifying genes related to dyslexia, working to map genetic contributors within multigenerational families. Clinically, she is involved in diagnosing and coordinating care for patients and families affected by hereditary cancer-risk syndromes.
