Biography

Wendy Salkin is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy and courtesy faculty in Law at Stanford University. Her research focuses on political philosophy, law, issues of race, Africana philosophy, and the intersection of moral and feminist philosophy. Salkin's work has been generously supported by several prestigious institutions, including the American Council of Learned Societies and the Stanford Humanities Center. She holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Harvard University, a J.D. from Stanford Law School, and a B.A. in Philosophy and Africana Studies from New York University. Before her academic career, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Judges Rosemary Barkett and Adalberto Jordan on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Miami, Florida, and was a legal advisor for Judge Barkett at the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague. Salkin has received numerous accolades, including the Phi Beta Kappa Northern California Association Teaching Excellence Award in April 2024.
