Dr. Wendy Timmons

Biography

Wendy Timmons is a Senior Lecturer in Dance Science at the University of Edinburgh, with a focus on the intersection of dance, physical education, and health. With a foundational B Phil in Classical Ballet from the University of Durham, she earned her PhD at the University of Edinburgh, where her research explored the health risks associated with generalized joint hypermobility in classical ballet. Wendy has significant experience in teaching and mentoring budding dance artists and educators. Her research agenda includes dance education, injury prevention, and the application of technology in dance training. Timmons has been actively involved in projects concerning health and dance, especially focusing on young dancers' development and well-being. Additionally, she serves on various editorial boards and advisory panels related to dance education, including the Research Dance Education journal. She has also initiated and participated in numerous successful funding projects aimed at advancing dance research and education.
