Biography

Wenhao Zhang is an Associate Professor in Computer Vision and Machine Learning at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). He holds a BEng in Automation, an MEng in Control, an MSc in Electronics, and has completed his PhD focusing on 3D computer vision analysis of human demographics and behaviors. His research areas include computer vision and machine learning, with a significant emphasis on interdisciplinary applications in agri-tech, healthcare, and environmental systems. Zhang is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is dedicated to designing and delivering research-informed, practice-led teaching. He leads several modules within engineering and has been featured on the UWE 30 Watch list in 2022. His ongoing research projects, such as HoliPig, IntelliPig, and various others, illustrate his commitment to applying advanced machine learning techniques in real-world scenarios. He has played a key role in government-funded research and industrial collaborations, resulting in numerous commercialized systems and patents. Additionally, he is currently overseeing four PhD projects that span various innovative research topics in 3D object detection and multi-modal analysis.
