Biography

Wenshe Liu is a Professor and a Presidential Impact Fellow at Texas A&M University, where he holds the Gradipore Chair in Chemistry. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Peking University in 2000, followed by a PhD from the University of California, Davis in 2005. Liu completed his postdoctoral training at the Scripps Research Institute from 2005 to 2007. His research focuses on understanding epigenetic chromatin regulation and posttranslational histone modifications, which play crucial roles in cellular processes and disease development. Liu's laboratory employs methods combining molecular and chemical biology to study chromatin dynamics and interactions of chromatin with epigenetic proteins. He actively pursues the development of therapeutics targeting epigenetic modifiers, utilizing novel phage display techniques and small molecule synthesis for disease intervention. Liu has received several prestigious awards, including the ACS Chemical Biology Prolific Author award and the NSF Career Award.
