Biography

Wenxin Du is a Professor of Finance at Harvard Business School, holding the Sylvan C. Coleman Professorship in Financial Management. His research focuses on global currency fixed income markets, central banking, financial regulations, and emerging market finance. Du has contributed to the field through various roles, including serving as an associate editor for esteemed journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of International Economics, and Review of Financial Studies. He is a recipient of the 2022 Award in Economics from the Central Banking and has been named an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Research Fellow for the period 2021-2023. Prior to joining Harvard, Du was the Henry Kaufman Professor of Financial Institutions at Columbia Business School and held influential positions at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and the Federal Reserve System’s Board of Governors. His vast experience includes being a central bank research fellow at the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, and he is involved in key initiatives like co-leading research on Market Frictions and Financial Risks. Educated at Harvard University, where he earned both his A.M. and Ph.D. in Economics, Du also holds a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Swarthmore College, graduating with Highest Honors.
