Biography

Prof. Werner Hemmert holds the Professorship in Bio-inspired Information Processing at the Technical University of Munich. His research focuses on the principles of information processing in the auditory system and the development of novel approaches in neuroprosthetics. His academic journey began in Electrical and Computer Engineering at TUM, followed by a position at the Tübingen Hearing Research Center from 1991 to 1998, during which he studied the micromechanics of the inner ear. He received his doctorate from Ruhr-Universität Bochum in 1997 and conducted research at prestigious institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and IBM Research – Zurich. Prof. Hemmert is a senior member of IEEE and a member of the German Acoustical Society and the Association for Research in Otolaryngology. His awards include the Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Helmholtz Prize for his work on three-dimensional vibration measurements in the inner ear.
