Biography

Wesley T. Brown is a ceramic artist known for creating monumental sculptures and utilitarian pottery that convey themes of struggle and triumph. His work features cracked surfaces, striking silhouettes, and bold compositions. Currently, he explores the creation of functional wares, dynamically integrating hand building and wheel throwing techniques. Based in Dayton, Ohio, Brown's education includes an Associate's degree in Art from Sinclair Community College (2012), a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Bowling Green State University (2014), and a Master of Fine Art from Indiana University Bloomington (2018). His artistic journey was enriched by hands-on experience working with renowned potters Mark Goertzen, Daniel Johnston, and Daniel Evans. Brown is currently an Assistant Professor of Ceramics at Penn State University, having previously taught at East Stroudsburg University, Bard High School Early College in Baltimore, and in Dayton.
