Wiep van Bunge is a full professor in the history of philosophy at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He obtained his BA and MA from Utrecht University, and later earned his PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam with a thesis on the seventeenth-century amateur philosopher Johannes Bredenburg in 1990. In 2000, he was appointed to an endowed chair at the Dutch Spinoza Society and served as the dean of the Erasmus School of Philosophy from 2004 to 2012. His notable publications include 'Stevin Spinoza' (2001), 'Spinoza Past Present' (2012), and 'Bayle Batavian Revolution' (2019), along with several co-edited titles. He is also involved in various scholarly work as a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW). In 2011, he delivered a series of lectures on Spinoza at Delft University of Technology, which are available on CD. His research interests are centered around the historical context of philosophical thought, particularly that of Spinoza and other Enlightenment figures.
