Wilbur Lam received a B.A. from Rice University in 1995, an M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in 1999, and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Francisco/University of California, Berkeley Joint Graduate Group in 2008. He completed his Residency in Pediatrics at UCSF in 2002 and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Berkeley from 2008 to 2010. His research focuses on integrating microtechnology and experimental hematology with clinical medicine, utilizing a unique "basement bench bedside" approach to biomedical research. This interdisciplinary laboratory combines efforts from clinicians, engineers, and biologists aimed at developing micro/nanotechnologies to study, diagnose, and treat blood disorders and cancers in childhood. Professor Lam is affiliated with both Emory University School of Medicine and the Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as with Children's Healthcare Atlanta hospitals. His additional research interests include cellular mechanics, microfluidics, and point-of-care diagnostics in pediatrics, hematology, and oncology.
