Dr. Wilfredo Puentes

Biography

Wilfredo Puentes is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at Western University. He holds a medical degree (MD) and is a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (FASE). His research interests focus on simulation technologies in education, equity education, curriculum development, and instructional strategies. He has extensive experience in critical care and perioperative ultrasonography, as well as thoracic anesthesia, particularly in lung transplantation cases. Dr. Puentes has contributed to several publications highlighting advancements in cardiac point-of-care ultrasound and has explored the impact of tracheostomy timing in critically ill patients. His work emphasizes the importance of optimized medical imaging techniques and their applications in high-stakes clinical settings. He actively participates in knowledge dissemination through both journal articles and book chapters, aiming to enhance educational practices and patient outcomes in anesthesiology.
