Biography

Will Gutekunst is an Associate Professor at the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on pushing the limits of complexity in macromolecular systems using innovative concepts in synthetic organic chemistry. The Gutekunst Lab explores the design of novel monomers for the construction of functional polyamides, development of small molecule reagents for dynamic modulation of branched polymer architectures, and investigation of new concepts for creating covalent bonds in challenging contexts. These research projects enable the generation of new functional materials and structures that are previously inaccessible for study. Prospective students in his lab receive extensive training in synthetic organic chemistry and polymer synthesis characterization.
