Biography

Dr. Will Hansen is a Professor of Civil Environmental Engineering at the University of Michigan. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois (UIUC) in 1983 and his M.S. in Civil Engineering from Denmark Technical University in 1977. His research focuses on mechanistic studies of cementitious materials, high-performance concrete, long-term frost durability, and the modeling of curling-warping of pavements and creep shrinkage. Dr. Hansen has served prominently in professional service as the Director of the Michigan Department of Transportation's Center of Excellence on Concrete Pavement Performance and is a member of several ACI committees. He has published over 150 journal papers and has received numerous awards for his contributions, including the American Concrete Institute's Delmar L. Bloem Distinguished Service Award and recognition as a Fellow of ACI. His work has significantly advanced the understanding of concrete performance under various environmental conditions.
