Biography

Will Lawn began his career as a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at King's College London in June 2022 and was awarded the title of Senior Lecturer shortly thereafter. He received his PhD from University College London in 2016, where he worked under the supervision of Professor Val Curran and Professor Celia Morgan on a thesis titled "Drug and Non-Drug Reward Processing in Cigarette and Cannabis Users." Between 2021 and 2022, he worked as a Research Fellow in the Department of Addictions, leading projects on opioid overdose detection and the use of wearable devices. Prior to this role, Lawn was a post-doctoral research associate at the Clinical Psychopharmacology Unit at UCL, where he coordinated several studies investigating the psychological effects of cannabis and other substances. His current research interests include cannabis, opioid overdose, addiction mechanisms, and the impacts of adolescent drug use. He teaches courses on addiction within both undergraduate and master's programs, with a focus on the psychological and societal challenges posed by substance use disorders. Lawn is actively engaged in public communication regarding cannabis and youth development, delivering numerous talks and participating in national media discussions on these topics.
