Biography

Willem L. Auping is a methodologist specialized in impact deep uncertainty and the way simulation models are developed and used. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Policy Analysis section at the Faculty of Technology, Policy, and Management (TPM) at Delft University of Technology. His appointment as assistant professor has involved three years of lecturing and research focused on policy analysis. Willem completed his PhD in the same section with a focus on modeling uncertainty. Before joining TU Delft, he served as a strategic analyst at the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS), which is a Dutch, non-partisan think tank that examines the interplay of international relations and security. He holds a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis, and Management as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Public Administration from TPM. He is involved in the REEsilience project funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation program, aimed at building a resilient and sustainable supply chain for magnetic rare earth elements for products related to e-mobility and renewable energy across Europe.
