Dr. Willi Goetschel

Biography

Willi Goetschel holds a PhD from Harvard University and an MPhil from Universität Zürich. His academic pursuits are concentrated in the fields of Jewish thought, German Enlightenment idealism, critical theory, and social political theory. His extensive research work encompasses a rich exploration of Continental Philosophy and Jewish Philosophy, showcasing his expertise and contributions to these areas. As a Professor at the University of Toronto, Goetschel has published significant works including 'Heine Critical Theory' (2019), 'Spinoza’s Modernity: Mendelssohn, Lessing, Heine' (2004), and 'Constituting Critique: Kant’s Writing Critical Praxis' (1994). He has also edited the 'Collected works of Hermann Levin Goldschmidt' since 1992. His scholarship reflects a profound engagement with critical theory and historical philosophical discourse, marking him as a pivotal figure in contemporary philosophical studies.
