Biography

William Alexander Donald is a Professor and ARC Future Fellow at the School of Chemistry, University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. His research is focused on the development and application of analytical and mass spectrometry methodologies, addressing significant challenges in chemistry and biochemistry. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2010. Following this, he conducted postdoctoral research as a Centenary Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne from 2010 to 2012, before joining UNSW as a lecturer in 2013. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2016 and later to Associate Professor in 2020. Donald has received several prestigious awards, including the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemists Prize for Young Chemists in 2011, and he has been recognized on the Analytical Scientist Power List in 2020. He is known for his contributions to the fields of mass spectrometry and its applications in various scientific disciplines including pharmacology, protein engineering, and molecular biology. Donald is actively engaged in supervising research at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels, mentoring emerging scientists in advanced analytical techniques.
