Biography

William Fagelson is an Associate Professor in the Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He received his B.A. in American Studies from Stanford University in 1991, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin in 1997 and 2004, respectively. Since 2005, he has taught Engineering Communication, overseeing the writing component of the Senior Design sequence. Fagelson has also served as the Faculty Leader for Study Abroad programs in Spain and Denmark since 2017. In addition to his academic roles, he has worked as a consultant in the industry, delivering workshops on technical communication for engineers and serving as a copyeditor focusing on electrical engineering, cognitive psychology, and linguistics. His research interests in American Studies include the film and media history during World War II, as well as veteran readjustment. He has experience working as a freelance researcher for documentary films and books related to film history.
