William Forbath is the Lloyd M. Bentsen Chair Law and a Professor at the University of Texas at Austin's School of Law. He joined the university in 1997 after more than a decade on the faculties of law and history at UCLA. Forbath is recognized as one of the nation's leading legal constitutional historians. He is the author of 'Law Shaping American Labor Movement' (Harvard, 1991) and has a forthcoming book titled 'Constitution Opportunity' (Harvard, 2015), co-authored with Joseph Fishkin. His numerous articles, book chapters, and essays on legal constitutional history and theory have been published in prestigious journals including the Yale Law Journal, Harvard Law Review, and Stanford Law Review. His current research interests include social economic rights, courts, and social movements in the Southern Hemisphere, as well as identity politics during the Progressive Era. Forbath has been a visiting scholar at Columbia Law School and Harvard Law School during 2001-02 and 2008-09 respectively. In addition to his teaching and research, he serves on various editorial boards and was involved with public interest organizations. His recent work includes contributions on social economic rights and identity politics.
