Biography

William V. Giannobile is the Dean and Lee Loomis, Jr. Professor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He obtained his DDS and MS in Oral Biology from the University of Missouri and completed a certificate in Periodontology and Doctor of Medical Sciences (DMSc) in Oral Biology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. His postdoctoral training in molecular biology was completed at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. With over 30 years of experience, his continuously NIH-funded research program focuses on oral periodontal regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and precision medicine. He has served as a visiting professor at several prestigious institutions and has produced over 300 manuscripts and several textbooks and patents in the fields of periodontology and oral health research. Giannobile has held editorial roles, including a 10-year term as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Dental Research. He has earned numerous accolades, including the American Dental Association Norton Ross Award for Excellence in Clinical Research and the Distinguished Scientist Award from the Academy of Periodontology. His work also includes administrative duties and practicing periodontics and implant dentistry at the Harvard Dental Center.
