Biography

William Glover is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at NYU Shanghai, where he is also the Co-Director of the NYU-ECNU Center for Computational Chemistry and Graduate Coordinator for Chemistry. He is a Global Network Associate Professor at NYU's Department of Chemistry, within the Faculty of Arts and Science. William completed his Master of Chemistry at the University of Oxford and earned his PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has held postdoctoral positions at UCLA and Stanford University. His research focuses on developing atomistic descriptions of light-initiated chemistry in complex environments and aims to understand the interaction of isolated molecules, macromolecules, and aggregates, with a particular interest in mitigating the damage to biological molecules from UV and ionizing radiation. His group employs advanced techniques including GPU-based quantum chemistry, machine learning, and multi-scale modeling to navigate the complexities of these systems. His work has been published in leading academic journals such as Nature Communications and the Journal of the American Chemical Society. In Spring 2023, he was awarded the ACS OpenEye Outstanding Junior Faculty Award in Computational Chemistry.
