Biography

William Hellenbrand is a pediatric cardiologist with an esteemed career in the field of pediatric and adult congenital cardiac catheterization. After completing his internship, residency, and fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine, he spent 24 years as a faculty member at Yale. In 1999, he became the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Columbia University Medical Center, taking on the role of Director of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. In September 2011, he returned to Yale, serving as Section Chief of Pediatric Cardiology. Hellenbrand has gained an international reputation as a leader in his field, actively involved in the development of transcatheter devices for closing congenital heart defects such as ASDs and PDAs, and has been a principal investigator in several U.S. trials involving trans-catheter implanted Melody valves. He remains engaged in the field of congenital heart catheterization, performing procedures, teaching others, and giving lectures regularly.
