Biography

William R. Lewis, M.D. is a Professor in the Division of Clinical Internal Medicine at UC Davis Health. He has a B.S. from the University of California, Davis, and an M.D. from Duke University School of Medicine. His internship included General Surgery at Harbor UCLA and Internal Medicine at UC Davis Medical Center. Dr. Lewis completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine, both at UC Davis Medical Center. His clinical interests focus on immediate exercise treadmill testing in chest pain patients in the emergency room and the efficacy of care pathways. He continues to explore the appropriateness and accuracy of stress testing in selected populations, particularly among subgroups such as patients with left bundle branch block. He has received multiple accolades, including Cardiologist Advocate of the Year from the California Chapter of the American College of Cardiology in 2010 and Outstanding Clinical Faculty Award in 2002. Dr. Lewis is known for his commitment to education, having received the Robert M. Walter, M.D., Outstanding Faculty Teacher Award in 1998.
