Biography

William David Lubitz is a professor at the University of Guelph in the Department of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.). His research primarily focuses on the modeling and operation of Archimedes screw microhydro power plants, as well as the characterization and measurement of microclimate in greenhouses. Professor Lubitz also engages in resource assessment and forecasting for wind, solar, and hydro energy. He designs and integrates renewable energy systems, and conducts experimental studies in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) relating to environmental aerodynamics, with a goal of reducing costs and environmental impacts in post-harvest grain drying processes. His teaching encompasses various undergraduate courses related to engineering design, traditional energy sources, energy technologies, air quality, and sustainable energy system design.
