Biography

William Ngo received his Doctor of Optometry (OD) in 2011 and a PhD in 2016 from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry & Vision Science. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Alabama, Birmingham from 2017 to 2019. From 2019 to 2021, he served as the Head of the Biosciences Centre for Ocular Research & Education. His work aims to advance the understanding of human ocular surface disease through a combination of computational, wet-lab, and clinical techniques. He is currently accepting applications for PhD and postdoctoral positions, particularly from candidates with backgrounds in cellular and molecular biology. His research interests include human clinical testing related to the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye disease and meibomian gland dysfunction, cellular physiology in response to stress and damage, drug discovery, drug design and delivery, disease detection modeling, as well as bioinformatics and evolutionary physiology, with a focus on ocular biology.
