Dr. William Roberts

Biography

William Clare Roberts is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at McGill University. His research interests lie primarily in political theory, with a focus on the history of political thought, including Marxism, ancient Greek political philosophy, and classical political economy. He engages with concepts of contemporary ethical political thought, exploring themes such as republicanism, institutionalism, and non-ideal theory. His work delves into theories of power and domination, as well as ideology, while also touching upon social theory and the philosophy of social sciences. Currently, Roberts is writing an afterword to a new translation of Marx’s 'Capital, Volume,' which will be published by Princeton University Press. He is also working on original manuscripts addressing themes of radical politics and universal emancipation. Roberts has presented his research at various notable conferences, sharing insights on the intersections of political theory and practice. He aims to contribute significantly to the understanding of socio-political phenomena through a critical lens.
