Biography

William Glenn Rowe is a Professor Emeritus at the Ivey Business School. He served in the Canadian Navy for 22 years, with his final years as Commanding Officer of Minor War Ships, where he trained junior officers in ship-handling and seamanship. After retiring from the Navy in 1990, he became a full-time lecturer at the Faculty of Business Administration at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Rowe pursued a PhD in leadership and strategic management at Texas A&M University, which he completed in 1996. He rejoined Memorial’s Faculty of Business Administration in 1995, focusing on strategic management and leadership. Rowe held positions at Royal Roads University from 1998 to 2000 and joined Ivey Business School in 2001. He has served in various capacities including faculty coordinator for the PhD program and Director of Ivey's Executive MBA Program. His teaching areas include Business Unit Strategy and Corporate Level Strategy across multiple graduate programs. Rowe has published extensively, with articles in journals such as the Strategic Management Journal and the Journal of World Business. He has also facilitated various workshops in case teaching and strategic thinking across Canada and internationally.
