Biography

William V. Tamborlane, MD, received his undergraduate BS degree from Georgetown University and completed his medical education at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He has a distinguished career as a pediatrician and is an internationally recognized clinical scientist with a focus on childhood diabetes and related disorders. Over the past 45 years, Dr. Tamborlane has published more than 1,000 articles in the field of diabetes. His major contributions include pioneering insulin pump therapy and leading significant studies such as the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) and the Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications (EDIC) study. He is actively involved in research aimed at improving diabetes management for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes patients. Currently, his research efforts are centered on utilizing advancements in diabetes technology and the development of an artificial pancreas system for type 1 diabetes patients. Dr. Tamborlane has received numerous awards for his contributions to clinical research and has mentored young physician scientists in the field of diabetes.
