Biography

William Vesneski is an Associate Teaching Professor and BASW Program Director at the School of Social Work, University of Washington. He joined the faculty in 2015 and teaches in the MSW curriculum as well as in the doctoral program in social welfare. His research focuses on child welfare law and policy, and he has published in various social work and legal journals. Before his academic career, Vesneski began as a public defender in juvenile court, where he represented parents in dependency proceedings and youth in criminal prosecutions. After earning his MSW from the University of Washington in 1998, he worked as a staff member and consultant for the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, contributing to the national evaluation activities of the association. Subsequently, he served as a senior manager at the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, directing the foundation’s social welfare initiatives in the Pacific Northwest. Vesneski holds a doctorate in social welfare, a master's degree in social work from the University of Washington, and a law degree from Seattle University.
