Dr. William Wilson

Biography

William Herman Wilson is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University. His research focuses primarily on the effects of marijuana on cerebral blood flow and metabolism, as well as brain morphology. Over the last year, he has continued his efforts to understand the neurocognitive effects of marijuana, utilizing Positron Emission Tomography to measure these effects. His ongoing projects include examining the impact of marijuana use on learning and memory, in addition to basic research in clinical psychopharmacology. Wilson has a significant history of securing grants from the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Mental Health for various studies related to schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression. His professional background includes a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University, and he has held multiple positions at Duke University that highlight his expertise in medical psychology and research. He has participated in various international conferences and has contributed to the field through his research and invited talks.
