Biography

William Wu is a Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Southampton, specializing in underwater acoustics and signal processing. He obtained a BEng in Underwater Acoustical Engineering followed by an MSc and PhD at the University of Southampton. His research interests encompass underwater acoustics, bioacoustics, and the development of acoustic-sensitive thermal-insensitive fibre optic hydrophones, in collaboration with the Optoelectronics Research Centre. His doctoral project involves fish swim bladder resonance detection and the investigation of underwater noise propagation in shallow water environments. William is also a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Fellow on the EU-H2020-MSCA-RIBES Project, demonstrating his commitment to advancing research in these critical areas. He teaches courses related to acoustical engineering, ocean acoustics, and signal processing, while actively contributing to the field through various collaborative research efforts.
