Dr. Wilson Geisler Iii

Biography

Wilson S. Geisler III is the holder of the David Wechsler Regents Chair in Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Ph.D. in psychology from Indiana University. He is currently the director of the Center for Perceptual Systems and serves on the faculty of both the Institute of Neuroscience and the Biomedical Engineering Program. His research focuses on visual neuroscience, exploring areas such as visual perception, the evolution of perceptual systems, and mathematical psychology. Geisler employs multiple techniques, including psychophysics and neurophysiology, to investigate various scientific questions. His current projects are centered around perceptual grouping, visual search, and natural scene statistics, with a particular focus on the neurophysiology of the primary visual cortex. He teaches advanced topics in perceptual systems at the university, guiding students through the complexities of visual processing.
