Biography

Professor Wim Vanderbauwhede leads the Low Carbon Sustainable Computing activity in the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow. He received his PhD in Electrotechnical Engineering from the University of Gent, Belgium in 1996. He has been a lecturer in the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow since 2004, and his research has resulted in over 150 refereed conference and journal papers, as well as books and book chapters. Before returning to academic research, Professor Vanderbauwhede worked in the electronics industry as a Design Engineer and Technology R&D Engineer. His primary research interests include low carbon sustainable computing, compilers, runtimes, FPGAs, GPUs, manycore systems, novel type systems, scientific computing (specifically heterogeneous systems), novel type systems in embedded systems design, and acceleration of simulation in quantum computing.
