Winfred has a multidisciplinary background in geographic data science and public health, with a teaching and research focus on maternal, newborn, and child health in sub-Saharan Africa. He holds academic degrees in health information management, public health, GIS and remote sensing, social research methods, and human geography. Before joining UCL Geography, he served as a Senior Research Fellow in the WorldPop research group at the University of Southampton, where he co-led the Countdown 2030 project and taught GIS for Health Systems Organisation Evaluation. Winfred has also worked for the Ghana Health Service as a public health officer, leading monitoring and evaluation activities for Good Neighbors International.
