Biography

Wing Cheong Chan is a Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Pro Bono Centre at Singapore Management University (SMU). He has been a faculty member since 2019. Chan holds a Graduate Diploma in Social Work from the National University of Singapore (2003), an LLM from Cornell University (1993), and a BA in Jurisprudence (Second Class Upper Honours) from Oxford University (1990). He is an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore, a Barrister-at-Law in England and Wales (Gray’s Inn), and an Attorney Counselor in New York. His research interests include Child Law and Elder Law. Chan is actively involved in legal education and has contributed significantly to the non-profit sector, receiving various awards for his efforts. His publications include works on criminal law specific to Singapore, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. He has also edited several volumes addressing healthcare and legal issues related to Singapore's ageing population and legal frameworks for crime victims in Asia.
