Ying joined the University of Warwick as an Assistant Professor in February 2022 and was promoted to Associate Professor in December 2025. She has a rich background in solid-state NMR, specifically focused on investigating chemical and biological structures within the extracellular matrix, with particular relevance to human health and disease. Prior to her tenure at Warwick, Ying worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Grenoble in France from 2020 to 2022 and at the Leibniz Institute for Molecular Pharmacology in Berlin, Germany, from 2014 to 2019. Ying completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge in the UK in 2014, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. She is dedicated to fostering equality, diversity, and inclusion in science and actively encourages applications from underrepresented groups. Her work in solid-state NMR has led to notable advancements in detecting and characterizing signals from molecules in various biological contexts, involving collaboration with esteemed colleagues from the Warwick Medical School. Ying is also involved in teaching and supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students within the Department of Physics.
