Biography

Wini Obande is a Lecturer and Elizabeth Georgeson Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, where she leads the Circular Composites Engineering Group. Her research focuses on the development of resource-efficient, lightweight materials incorporating life-cycle assessment to inform sustainable design and manufacturing processes. She is particularly interested in valorising waste bio-based feedstocks as alternatives to virgin materials in composite applications, and her work involves testing the functionality and durability of novel materials. In addition, Wini is a member of several professional organizations, including the Institution of Engineering Technology (IET), the Society for Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE), and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3). Wini has earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, a MRes in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Limerick, Ireland, and a BEng in Biomedical Engineering from the same institution.
