Dr. Wolfgang Kuebler

Biography

Wolfgang Kuebler is a Professor in the Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto and Co-Director of the Critical Illness Injury Research Centre at St. Michael's Hospital. His research focuses on pulmonary microvascular physiology and pathophysiology, utilizing a translational research approach that integrates basic research with cell signaling and communication pathways at the level of the intact organ and organism. Through this methodology, he aims to identify novel basic pathomechanisms in complex disease models, such as acute lung injury, lung edema, and pulmonary hypertension. He employs advanced techniques such as intravital microscopy and real-time fluorescence imaging to study these processes. Over the years, Kuebler has contributed significantly to the field, serving on various national and international scientific committees and organizations, including the American Physiological Society and the European Society of Microcirculation. He has also been actively involved in grant review committees, focusing on funding opportunities for innovative research in his area of expertise.
