Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Wolter Jager. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Wolter Jager is an Assistant Professor at Delft University of Technology in the Faculty of Applied Sciences. He is an organic chemist trained at Rijks Universiteit Groningen, where he obtained his PhD in 1994 with a thesis focused on Chiroptical Molecular Switches under the supervision of Professors B. L. Feringa and E. W. Meijer. Following his doctorate, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Photochemical Sciences at Bowling Green State University with Professor D. C. Neckers. In 1997, he joined TU Delft as a KNAW fellow, focusing his research on the development of Fluorescent Probes for Polymer Characterization. His current research interests emphasize the design, synthesis, and characterization of functional organic molecules for advanced energy applications, including organic batteries and artificial photosynthesis. Jager collaborates closely with colleagues such as Ferdinand Grozema on the development of photoactive materials and with Erik Kelder on electroactive organic materials. He is a member of the Exam Committee for the Bachelor in Molecular Science and Technology and actively participates in safety committees within the Chemical Engineering department. He also contributed as a co-organizer for the IUPAC conference on Photochemistry in 2022.
