Wouter De Corte is an Associate Professor in Civil Structural Engineering at Ghent University. His research interests include multi-material and multi-disciplinary topology optimization, applications of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites, and techniques such as vacuum infusion in bridge construction. He has extensively studied tiled laminates, web core sandwich panel footbridges, and the numerical and experimental analysis of concrete printing. His work includes the analysis of hollow core elements subjected to fire and the modeling of strut-tie systems, focusing on the shear strength and fatigue behavior of steel-concrete composite bridges. Over his career, he has produced 56 peer-reviewed journal articles and supervised numerous PhD and Master dissertations. De Corte's teaching encompasses Finite Element Applications, Structural Engineering, and Bridge Engineering, with ongoing collaborations with international institutions such as Brno University of Technology and Tongji University in China.
