Wouter Wilson is a part-time Assistant Professor in the Orthopaedic Biomechanics group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Netherlands. He supervises PhD students in the field of biomechanics and finite element modeling. Wilson studied Mechanical Engineering at TU/e, obtaining his MSc in 2001. He continued with his PhD research focused on cartilage mechanics and finite element modeling within the Bone-Orthopedic Biomechanics group at the same university, completing his PhD in 2005 with the thesis titled "An explanation of the onset of mechanically induced cartilage damage." Following his doctoral studies, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at TU/e before joining GKN/Fokker as a Development Engineer in the R&D department, where his work involved developing numerical tools for modeling and understanding the behavior of composites. In 2003, he became the Engineering Manager for the Analyses and Design Development teams at GKN/Fokker. In 2010, he returned to TU/e as a part-time Assistant Professor overseeing PhD students in Orthopaedic Biomechanics. Most recently, in 2023, he transitioned to Sioux Technologies to take on the role of Senior Group Lead in the Mechanics Department, where he is responsible for the Engineering Roadmap and competence coordination for his team.
