Biography

Wrik Mallik received his BEng in Civil Engineering from Jadavpur University, India, and went on to earn a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech, USA. He was appointed as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver before joining the University of Glasgow in September 2022. His research primarily focuses on computational modeling of fluid dynamics, fluid-structure interaction, and acoustics, with the goal of developing sustainable concepts for aeronautics, and applications within the wind engineering and marine sectors. His research is centered on broad areas such as aeroacoustic modeling for silent bio-inspired aircraft, transonic aeroelasticity for advanced transport vehicles, aeroelastic energy harvesting in urban aerodynamics, and computational modeling of underwater ocean acoustics. Mallik is also actively engaged in collaborative research with the Marine Directorate of Scotland, the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland, the University of Strathclyde, and the University of Salford in Manchester, contributing to innovative projects and publications in these fields.
