Dr. Wyn Bowen

Biography

Wyn Bowen is a Professor of Non-Proliferation and International Security at King's College London, where he also serves as Co-Director of the Freeman Air and Space Institute. His leadership of the School of Security Studies from 2016 to 2022 underscores his extensive experience in the field. Prior to this role, Bowen was Head of the Department of Defence Studies at the Joint Services Command Staff College and Director of the Centre for Science and Security Studies. He has been involved in important governmental advisory roles concerning international security policy, including serving as a weapons inspector for the UN Special Commission in Iraq and a consultant for the International Atomic Energy Agency. Bowen has a wealth of academic involvement, contributing to various prestigious publications on topics related to nuclear non-proliferation, deterrence, and security policy. His research interests include strategic stability, coercive diplomacy, and international efforts to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Bowen has collaborated with multiple universities and has extensive engagement with training and education in security studies.
