Dr. Xandra Kramer

Biography

Xandra Kramer is a full professor of Private Law at the Erasmus School of Law and holds a part-time professorship in Private International Law at Utrecht University. She is also a Deputy Judge at the District Court of Rotterdam and serves as a member of the advisory board of the court. Elected as a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2019, Kramer completed her law studies at Leiden University with honors. She has a rich academic background that includes a Ph.D. focusing on provisional measures in private international law, which she obtained in 2001. With a focus on civil justice and private international law, Xandra's research interests lie at the intersection of economic efficiency and procedural fairness, examining transnational complex litigation and the harmonization of private international law in civil procedure within the EU. She has played a significant role in numerous research projects, including those funded by the Dutch Research Council and has received various grants such as the ERC consolidator grant for her project 'Building EU Civil Justice'. Among her key publications are edited books concerning aspects of private international law and civil procedure, which reflect her commitment to advancing knowledge in her field.
