Biography

Xiang Sun is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry and the PhD Coordinator at NYU Shanghai. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from Brown University and a BS in Chemical Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China. Prior to his current position, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Michigan. Professor Sun's research is centered on the development of theoretical computational methods for modeling chemical dynamics in complex molecular systems, including liquids, surfaces, biological molecules, and nanomaterials. His main goal is to achieve a molecular-level understanding of the influence of electronic and vibrational excitation on the mechanisms and outcomes of chemical reactions at the atomistic level. He has published several significant papers in highly regarded journals, contributing to the fields of quantum dynamics and statistical mechanics, and often employs machine learning techniques in his research.
