Biography

Xianjun Dong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at Yale School of Medicine with a secondary appointment in Biomedical Informatics & Data Science. He is the founding director of the Genomics and Bioinformatics Hub at Brigham Women's Hospital. Dr. Dong completed his PhD in Genomics and Bioinformatics at the University of Bergen and his postdoctoral training at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, focusing on computational methods to understand transcriptional regulation within the human genome. His research has significantly contributed to the ENCODE project, where he identified dual-functional exons that act as enhancers and has discovered novel non-coding regulatory RNAs in the human brain. He has over 50 publications and has secured substantial funding for his research, including support from the American Parkinson Disease Association and NIH. In his personal life, Dr. Dong enjoys raising chickens and spending time with his family.
