Dr. Xianming Zhang

Biography

Xianming Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Concordia University, serving as co-director of the Centre for Research in Molecular Modeling. He holds a BSc from Peking University, an MSc from the University of Toronto, and a PhD from the University of Toronto, with further postdoctoral training at Harvard University. His research focuses on environmental chemistry, particularly the analysis and modeling of organic contaminants, risk assessment, and the environmental impact of human-made chemicals. Zhang employs a variety of analytical techniques such as gas chromatography and mass spectrometry to study the behavior and effects of organic contaminants in the environment. He is also actively engaged in developing educational courses that incorporate sustainability into scientific curricula, focusing on environmental issues related to air, water, and soil chemistry. With numerous publications in reputable journals, his contributions to the field of chemical exposure and environmental management are significant.
