Biography

Xiao-Ning Xu qualified in Medicine from Capital Medical University (Beijing) and obtained his PhD in Clinical Immunology from Flinders Medical Centre (Australia). In 1999, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA). He joined the group led by Professor Sir Andrew J. McMichael as an NHMRC research fellow at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine at the University of Oxford. Xiao-Ning has served as a Senior Clinical Scientist at the Medical Research Council (MRC), leading research projects focused on immune correlates of protection against emerging infectious diseases such as HIV, SARS, and avian influenza. In 2010, he joined Novartis and became the Head of Novartis Vaccines Research in China, based in Shanghai. Subsequently, in 2013, he was appointed as Chair Professor of Human Immunology at Imperial College London, where he continues to lead significant research initiatives in the field.
