Dr. Xiaobin Wang

Biography

Xiaobin Wang is a board-certified pediatrician and molecular epidemiologist with extensive expertise in the fields of epidemiology and disease prevention. His research integrates biomarkers, clinical medicine, and epidemiology to study complex human diseases, particularly focusing on environmental factors, nutritional biomarkers, genetic variants, and epigenetic alterations. Dr. Wang has served as the principal investigator for numerous large-scale molecular genetic epidemiological studies funded by the National Institutes of Health. He has established significant study cohorts including the Boston Birth Cohort and the Chicago Family-based Cohort, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of health and disease outcomes across the life course. His work on the interactions between environmental exposures and genetic susceptibility in relation to various conditions, such as obesity and metabolic syndrome, has been widely published in prestigious medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and the Lancet. Dr. Wang has a keen interest in using epidemiological data to inform public health practices, evidenced by his contributions to guidelines concerning folic acid supplementation for stroke prevention. He holds an MD from Beijing Medical University and a doctorate from the Johns Hopkins University.
